John and Nina Reese celebrate 65th anniversary

John and Nina Reese celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary recently with friends and family during a cake-and-card reception held at Brookdale. Hostesses were Vicki Sewell, Jennifer Johnson and Jamie Newell, along with the Brookdale staff. The Reeses met at a 1950 Delta Zeta Sorority dance while attending the University of Tennessee, and were married on June 11, 1952, at Lynchburg by a Baptist minister in the Lynchburg Methodist Church. They joked they’ve been mixed up ever since. They have one daughter, Vicki (Don) Sewell; two granddaughters: Sarah (Cary) Pierce and Katie (Carl) Barnhill; and three great-grandsons: Jacob, Evan and Wesley. The Reeses have enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe and Egypt. They’ve enjoyed the hobby of “antiquing.” In the course of their marriage, they have lived and enjoyed making many friends in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville and Cleveland, as well as Simsbury, Connecticut. Mr. and Mrs. Reese attribute their long marriage to God’s grace and a strong commitment to their marriage vows made before God.
