‘Underground Railroad’ to be Tuesday book club topic

Monday at 4:30 p.m., the teens gather for gaming in the Teen Zone. They have board and card games as well as Wii and Xbox gaming. Feel free to bring a multi-player E-rated game to share. For more information on any of the teen events email teenzone@clevelandlibrary.org.

Tuesday night, the Library Book Club is meeting to discuss, “Underground Railroad” by Colson Whitehead. Join them at 6:30 p.m. in the Carmichael Room for a lively book discussion. All are welcome.

Tuesday at 7 p.m., brings the Cleveland Storytelling Guild to the library for their monthly meeting. Join them in the Community Room to hear terrific tales and even practice some of your own.

All kids 18 and under are invited to Free Lunch Wednesdays every week at 1 p.m. in the Community Room. Immediately following lunch, movie and games will take place until 5 p.m., for all ages.

Then at 6 p.m., movie night for adults will be showing the award-winning, 2016 film “Doctor Strange.”

Have you ever wanted to discover the inner-workings of your public library, or maybe you’re interested in the history of the building? Whichever it is you can participate in a tour of the library this Thursday. Meet at the circulation desk promptly at 4 p.m. for the tour.

Thursday at 4:30 p.m., the Teens will gather in the Teen Zone for summer reading activities. They will be making skyline artwork out of paint swatches.

On Thursday night, families will have a chance to gather at 7 p.m. for a night of DIY projects.

The Friends of the Library Association will host its Book and Coffee series in the History Branch Parlor Room at 10 a.m., Friday. Join your friends as you enjoy coffee and a book review.

It is not necessary to have read the book prior to coming to this event. The purpose of Book & Coffee is to pique your interest. This free event is open to the public and FOLA provides the coffee.

Also on Friday, all ages are welcome to a Lego building event at 12:15 p.m. Creations will be photographed and shared on the library’s social media. Come build with us.

At 7 p.m., the Teens will have after hours programming for the summer reading program. Join them for a night of improv with theater games and a Karaoke challenge.

The Crossover Book Club is meeting Saturday at 7 p.m., to discuss the young adult hit, “Six of Crows,” by Leigh Bardugo. Join them for heavy hors d’oeuvres and book games for a night of hands-on learning fun. For summer reading activities, they will do a tea-blending exercise related to the characters of the book.

Registration is required for all of the teen and children’s events, so get online and sign-up today.

Don’t forget the library offers free Zumba classes every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning at 8 a.m.
